Harshendu Bindal is the global head for Franklin Templeton Strategic Ventures (FTSV). In this role, he oversees the firm's corporate venture capital and strategic innovation arm. He is responsible for venture investing, strategic commercial partnerships, partner programs, and Franklin Templeton's independent platform businesses including AdvisorEngine, Goldberry, and the MyFi direct to consumer (D2C) offering.
Prior to his current role, Harshendu Bindal was managing director, global head for Franklin Templeton's Digital Strategy and Wealth Management channel, responsible for developing the firm's digital wealth proposition and overseeing research, commercial partnerships, strategic acquisitions, and investments into distribution related fintech firms. He's also held the role of managing director, channel head for International Retail Strategy, responsible for all aspects of the strategic direction and planning process for the group's global retail business. Harshendu Bindal oversaw the continued development of strong global partnerships with several important distributors, which included oversight of the Global Financial Institutions team.
Harshendu Bindal was previously president of Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India) Private Limited, responsible for building Franklin Templeton's retail and institutional business in India. Under his guidance, the India business firmly entrenched its position as one of the largest asset managers in the country, known for a healthy asset mix, investor-focused practices, and high corporate governance standards. Harshendu Bindal has also held several other global sales and innovation roles during his 25+ year term with the firm, having joined Franklin Templeton in 1997 after four years with the Aditya Birla Group.
Harshendu Bindal is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and has successfully completed the Advanced Management Program from the Harvard Business School. Harshendu Bindal also holds an engineering degree, as well as a master's degree in financial management (M.F.M.) from the University of Mumbai.
