Dr. Allen’s success in the healthcare industry spans from his time as a board certified family physician, and emergency room physician to the founding Chief Medical Officer of Medsolutions, a radiology benefit management company. He continued in this role, building out a large and formidable clinical staff to encompass numerous specialty management domains. These efforts culminated in the 2014 acquisition of Medsolutions by CareCoreNational (privately held competitor whose majority owner was General Atlantic equity firm) to form evicore. Soon after this transition, Dr. Allen helped to foster the rapid growth of evicore, culminating with its purchase by Express Scripts in 2018 for a record setting $3.6 billion. Express Scripts was then purchased by Cigna just one year later to become the largest integrated medical benefits management company in the U.S. He also sat as the Senior Medical Officer of Coventry Corporation and is a long-time member of the editorial board of the Journal of Population Health. Dr. Allen received his MD degree from the Sydney Kimmel College of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and his undergraduate degree as a Senior Scholar from Oberlin College
