Edwina Johnson is the GM of MoneyGram Online (MGO) International, responsible for driving growth outside of the US. Previously, she was Head of Global at Alloy, leading the company’s strategy to expand its product into key markets worldwide and launching a GTM team in the UK/EMEA. Before that, as COO at Alloy in NYC, she helped take the team from Seed to Series C and a $1.55B valuation. Alloy is a global end-to-end identity risk solution that helps banks and fintechs automate and manage decisions for onboarding, fraud monitoring, AML compliance, and credit underwriting.
Alongside her role at MGO, she is an active angel investor (primarily through Ada Ventures under their theme of Economic Empowerment), a mentor with Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation program, and an Expert in Residence for Sie Ventures.
Earlier in her career, she ran Startupbootcamp FinTech New York, part of the award-winning Startupbootcamp global startup accelerator. She selected 10 of the best FinTech startups globally each year to take part in a three-month program, achieving 18 months’ growth for their businesses through educational syllabuses, mentorship, and corporate partnerships.
Her background spans startups, digital marketing, and operations, with a common thread of business building throughout. She began her career helping set up the specialist media agency Minute Steak before moving to digital strategy consultancy Blue Latitude. Afterward, she joined 360i, supporting its Data, Insights, Strategy, and Creative Production teams to build best-in-class offerings. Her experience co-founding an AdTech startup sparked her desire to work closely with entrepreneurs through Startupbootcamp.
