About Dr Newraj Burton

Under his Chairmanship, the National ICT Strategic plan (NICTSP) 2007-2011 was elaborated for Mauritius. Dr Newraj Burton headed the Technical Advisory Committee of the NICTSP under which numerous projects and policy frameworks were formulated and implemented. As Chief Executive Officer of Multi-Carrier Mauritius Ltd (MCML), the exclusive national carrier of Television and Radio signals in Mauritius and Outer Island, operating under the aegis of the Prime Minister’s Office, the first transmission of Digital TV was a reality. Today, the country benefits from 18 DVB-T channels and additional FM radio services. He also worked as Senior Manager at Harel Mallac Technologies for 15 years, a leader in the field of ICT and headed several banking and telecommunications projects. Dr Newraj Burton  born in October 1968 holds an Engineering degree in the field of Electronics and Communications and a Master in Business Administration in Marketing. Dr Burton was awarded a Doctorate in Business Administration from Leeds University in 2014. His research work resulted into the elaboration of the Self Innovative Strategic Model ensuring effective management in the Electronic Communications Industry in Mauritius. He was awarded the Best ICT Personality of the year in 2007 by the British Computer society. Dr Burton is now employed by BPC Banking Technologies; a Switzerland based company and holds the position of Business Development Director for the African continent.
