About David Schaefer

David Schaefer joined AHT in 1987 and is a specialist in commercial property and casualty insurance and risk management for complex risks. He is an expert in management liability insurance and the risks associated with being publicly traded. He has assisted numerous clients obtain proper D&O liability insurance coverage for their initial public offerings. In addition to establishing and directing AHT’s management liability practice, he was the founder of AHT’s technology practice and the principal architect of Ensuring Integrity, a nationally known D&O loss prevention program for public companies. Under Schaefer’s leadership AHT has been recognized every year since 1994 by Tillinghast-Towers Perrin 's Directors and Officers Liability Survey as one of the top 10 leading national brokers for the placement of management liability insurance programs. AHT has also been recognized as one of the top 100 insurance brokerage operations in the United States. AHT has also been selected by it's employees as one of "The Best Places to Work in Insurance". In December of 2022 AHT became a Baldwin Risk Partner. In addition to numerous speaking and writing engagements, Schaefer has testified as an expert witness before standing committees of the United States Senate and House of Representatives, and advised the Office of Management and Budget and the Department of Defense about corporate risk management and insurance issues. David earned a B.A. from Wittenberg University and holds the professional designations of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Registered Professional Liability Underwriter (RPLU).
