About Claire Bowler

Claire was one of two founding Partners of DWF's London office in July 2008 and sat on DWF's main Strategic Board from 2016-2019. She is Global Head of the Insurance Sector, DWF's largest Sector. Claire acts for major worldwide insurers, large insureds and Lloyd's Syndicates across a wide spectrum of claims, and is Client Partner for some of the firm's largest clients. Claire set up and heads DWF's renowned International Claims Team, acting for UK and worldwide insurers in large loss and international cases. She is regularly instructed in some of the largest and highest profile complex cross-border claims in the London Market, as well as for insurance companies and corporate clients all over the world. Claire particularly enjoys working closely with insureds to guide them through the complexities of cases, often with high media interest, and working to reach solutions for all parties involved in a commercial and timely manner. In 2019 Claire won 'Insurance Lawyer of the Year' at the inaugural Women in Insurance Awards in London. In 2011 Claire won the “Woman of Achievement Award” for the Insurance category in the Women in the City Awards, being named one of 7 top female executives working in the City of London that year. Claire regularly appears in legal and insurance industry press and in 2016 was proud to be elected to DWF's Strategic Board, the first time a woman had been elected to DWF's main Board. Claire has long been recognised for her expertise, her contribution to the City and for championing the progress of women, and currently sits on the Board of I-Win which promotes and supports female talent in the insurance industry. She is a leading Insurance lawyer in the major legal directories, and as Global Head of the Insurance Sector her passion is working with partners across DWF's business to coordinate a strong multi-disciplinary approach to help clients navigate the complexities and ever-changing legal landscape across all aspects of the insurance sector. The Legal Directories state that Claire "has vast experience and knowledge", is "first rate", "tactically adept", "has a real passion, commitment and drive" and "is a delight to work with". She is noted to be a lawyer who is "proactive and offers solutions to difficult matters", and is "lauded by clients for her sensible approach".
