About Amit Kalra

A global financial services senior leader with diverse experience and capabilities in executive and strategic leadership, business transformation, thought leadership and driving innovation for value creation. I am an entrepreneur by spirit, and believe in shaping up the future with strong focus on excellence and execution. To me leadership is all about influence, inspiration, enablement and impact. I head Swiss Re Bangalore's Global Capability Centre, with over 1000 professionals across the re/insurance value chain. Currently on mission to enable the transformation of Swiss Re Bangalore into a Centre of Excellence with best in class global expertise and capabilities. My journey with Swiss Re started in 2007 wherein I established and headed the Economic Research & Consulting India team. I later took on leadership role for analytics and non-life actuarial teams. In my previous role, I was Head of Strategy, wherein I shaped up growth, strategy and capability build-up initiatives for Bangalore. Recognized for thought leadership and diverse expertise, I have contributed towards numerous articles, publication and speaking engagements at industry events. Most notably, I am the author of several global studies published under Swiss Re's sigma publications on trends in emerging markets, covering topics such as food security, micro insurance, and urbanization. I also conceptualized and led the global Swiss Re startup initiative, InsurTech Accelerator, which curated innovative ideas and solutions in the re/insurance sector in collaboration with startups. Prior to joining Swiss Re, I led the Strategic Research Group for GE Insurance Solutions at GE Capital International (now Genpact).
