About Alex Astengo

Alex trained as a chartered accountant at PKF and then joined the corporate finance team of CB Richard Ellis, a global property advisory firm. He advised the UK and US boards acquiring companies across Europe, Asia and Australia including financial deal structuring, legal and tax and due diligence. He moved to a private equity backed London based online gaming business to set up and oversee their financial function. He founded a software business in South Africa which distributed the Argus suite of property asset management and valuation products, adding major banks and property funds as clients. He then founded Accounting Back Office, a cloud based accounting and advisory business using the Xero platform to provide accounting and advisory services to SMEs. He moved into Fintech as Business Development Manager with Lightyear.cloud ,a SAAS invoice automation solution which extracts line item data from supplier invoices and automates coding, approval and entry to cloud accounting platforms. He entered the insurtech space as Chief Commercial Officer with SchemeServe , an established SAAS insurance quote and bind system focused on delegated authority scheme business. He then moved to Cloud Insurance as head of sales and secured significant enterprise business. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Honours degree in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand and passed the South African Institute of Chartered Accountant's Board exam.
