Wayra Partners with Tubecon

Wayra has announced a partnership with Tubecon, the leading YouTuber convention organiser in Europe.

As a part of the partnership, Telefónica and Tubecon will develop a jointly-hosted Tubecon Creator Lab studio space in the Telefónica building at Gran Via, Madrid. The working space will include video production studio facilities, editing space, and a hangout area. Tubecon Creator Lab is planned to become a physical meeting point, where the YouTuber community and online video creators can collaborate and create content with professional quality equipment. The partnership also includes the intention of an investment over-subscribing Tubecon’s initial seed round.

The studio facility will host a pilot project, where Tubecon and Movistar+ will collaborate with young online video creators to explore new ways of communication. Movistar+ is a subscription platform for digital television owned by Telefónica. Telefónica’s intention for the collaboration is to cultivate a long-term working relationship with the emerging online video creators and aspiring online influencers who appeal to young audiences.

Tubecon is organising major YouTuber events in multiple markets in Europe. The latest Tubecon event in Helsinki in August 2017 gathered 17,500 visitors. Tubecon is currently opening several new markets in Europe and developing the brand into a multiplatform media property, including studios and digital television content creation.

Tubecon organised an arena-scale YouTuber event in Madrid in February 2017 in collaboration with Wayra. Tubecon’s plan is to continue engaging the community of 200 Spanish YouTubers already associated with Tubecon. Tubecon also plans to continue organising new community-driven events in Spain together with Spanish online video creators.

Tubecon Creator Lab Madrid will open during Autumn 2017.
