URBAN MASSAGE ANNOUNCES NEW SELF-CARE SERVICES FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL £3.5M CROWDFUNDING ROUND

Urban Massage, the on-demand wellness app, today announces that it has raised £3.5 million in funding, thanks to its hugely successful equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs.

Led by Felix Capital, Urban Massage set their funding target on Seedrs at £2.5 million, however within 72 hours the Company had smashed its goal, and has in total raised £3,491,730, bringing onboard 824 investors, from across 27 countries.

The round comes as the Company announces the launch of a suite of new self-care services aimed to bridge the gap between energy and health. New research released by Urban Massage shows that Londoners are close to meltdown, with over half of the 30-40 year old’s surveyed (56%) reporting issues coping with their normal routines – including 10% who say they can’t remember the last time they had the energy they need to get through the day. The new self-care services on offer target a growing segment of the wellness market – illustrated by 43% of Londoners surveyed who said that self-care was something they wish they practiced more.

By the end of 2019, Urban Massage aims to offer a holistic approach to wellness, including fitness, confidence-boosting beauty treatments, and strength-building medical services like osteopathy and physio. By 2020, the Company intends to move into more touch points – including digital services, self-care products and city hubs.

The Company’s mission has always been about offering self-care on-demand, starting with the ability to book an expert massage therapist to your home within an hour. Since launch in 2014, the Company has recorded over 330,000 treatments and built up a large base of loyal customers, including 10,000 monthly active users, along with a 70% repeat rate across the board.

Urban Massage CEO and Co-Founder, Jack Tang, said: “We’ve always felt sure that city life really takes it toll on energy and mental wellness, but were surprised by how many people feel they’re on the edge of coping. This and the overwhelming support we’ve experienced through the community-led Seedrs round we’ve just closed, really proves that we need to launch these new services and help solve these issues, fast!
