UK Market Leader Crowdfunder.co.uk Distributes £1.9 Million of Funds in 2017

Crowdfunder.co.uk has announced that it’s distributed £1.9 million of funds to over 400 projects in local communities this year.

The partner funds were matched by the crowd who pledged over £2.5 million to support projects they cared about.

More than 24 funding partners worked with Crowdfunder.co.uk to make funds available to projects in locations across the country. Partners contributing grants funds include county councils, unitary authorities, brands and corporates.

Increasingly local authorities are turning to crowdfunding as it allows them to stretch funds further, target projects they want to reach, validate ideas and build capacity in the community. Crowdfunder has welcomed over 20 local authority partners in the last year alone, including Cornwall, Staffordshire, Harrow, Barking and Dagenham, Wigan, Trust for London, Stirling, Dorset, Plymouth, Barnsley, Norwich, Newcastle, Lewisham, Derby, Angus, Aberdeen, Frome and Birmingham. Crowdfunder are now seeing these authorities renew funds for a second year.

Crowdfunder.co.uk has uniquely enabled projects to secure money from more than one funding partner like The Together Project in London which creates joyful experiences that unite young and old to tackle loneliness and strengthen communities.

It’s estimated 60% of elderly people living in care homes have never received a single visitor. The isolation and impact on mental health can be devastating. The Together Project are bringing joy, laughter and friendship to care homes with a weekly singing and social group for children, parents and residents. The project secured pledges of £10,000 from Trust for London and an additional £10,000 from Santander Changemaker after raising £10,000 through their crowdfund.

Crowdfunder.co.uk also has corporate partners including Santander, Virgin and GoDaddy. Big Society Capital have also pledged significant amounts to Community Share projects across the UK and preserved pubs, piers and community buildings along the way.

Dawn Bebe, Founding Director of Crowdfunder.co.uk explains; “We are delighted to have seen the measurable impact that local authorities and corporates are having in communities by working with us to distribute funds.

There is a growing recognition that crowdfunding can amplify funding for high quality projects and in local communities. Our aim is to offer more funds to projects who want to tackle society’s challenges by making their ideas happen. We are expecting to welcome more partners on board in 2018 and are keen to explain and discuss campaign ideas and options with any organisation which has funds to distribute.
