Trustly partners with Wizz Air to bring innovation to airline payments
Trustly, the leading global payments platform for digital account-to-account transactions, is proud to announce a strategic partnership with Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest growing and most sustainable* airline.
Through the partnership, made possible by Adyen, the global payments platform of choice for many of the world’s leading companies, Wizz Air travelers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the UK will be able to pay for flights directly from their bank account. Wizz Air will also benefit from Trustly’s unique collection model, which offers the fastest possible settlement, reduced fraud and instant refunds for travelers, giving Wizz Air greater flexibility in its payments infrastructure.
Wizz Air’s integration with Trustly via Adyen comes at a time when Open Banking adoption is on the rise in Europe and demonstrates the airline’s commitment to innovation.
Simon Eve, Head of Travel at Trustly, says: “According to a recent Trustly report, 71% of airlines are now actively exploring implementing an account-to-account payment option in light of PSD21, complementing traditional card payments. Wizz Air is at the head of the pack, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and a hassle-free traveler experience.”
Viktor Mura, Head of Tax, Treasury and Investor relations at Wizz Air, says: “As a value-oriented airline focused on innovation throughout the traveler journey, Trustly was the obvious choice to provide a low-cost, simple and secure way for our customers to pay. The long term partnership with Trustly allows us to further strengthen our low-cost value proposition to our customers in Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden and the UK.”
