Trade the Night Away: Pepperstone Now Offers Over 100 24-hour US Share CFDs

Leading global CFD broker Pepperstone is adding 79 new 24-hour US share CFDs to now offer over 100 of the most-traded US stocks. This gives traders unparalleled opportunity to capitalise on market-moving events even outside of equity exchange hours.

These additions come in the wake of overwhelming demand for Pepperstone’s initial 24-hour US share CFD offering, which was launched in March 2024. With major corporate earnings releases, economic reports, and breaking news often driving the most significant price movements beyond traditional trading hours, Pepperstone ensures its clients can seize an opportunity or mitigate risk in their portfolios the moment market-moving news drops.

Expert insight shines a light on overnight trading

While past performance is not indicative of future performance, Pepperstone’s analysts ran the data, and found striking trends in many of the high-momentum and mega-cap US equities – Tesla, Nvidia and Alphabet, among others – where their outperformance since March 2024 has nearly all been attributed to moves that happened outside of cash equity hours:

  • 97% of Tesla’s share price gains occurred outside of the Nasdaq cash session.
  • 82% of Nvidia’s share price gains occurred outside of the Nasdaq cash session.
  • 91% of Alphabet’s share price gains occurred outside of the Nasdaq cash session.

Chris Weston, Head of Research at Pepperstone: “The data trends we’ve observed suggest that, for traders whose strategy holds edge in periods of trend and heightened movement, it’s the overnight session that has generated the best returns for the NAS100 and many of the marquee US equity plays. Aside from the complete ability to react at a time of the trader’s choosing, this relative performance is perhaps another reason why 24-hour US equity pricing may be the default position for equity traders in the future. One to watch with Nvidia’s earnings report coming up.”
