Teachers Building Society Launches new Online End-to-End Mortgage Application Portal

The new application portal, developed by Bournemouth-based digital agency Appius, allows intermediaries to register online at teachersbs.co.uk/intermediaries, register a client, obtain a Decision in Principle, submit an application, upload documents and track their cases online.

The system is built around providing a quick and smooth user experience for intermediaries and ensures they are kept up-to-date at all stages of their clients’ application with automated emails and online updates informing them of any changes to their cases’ status. A dedicated Intermediary team is also on hand to deal with any questions.

Andy Yates, Business Development Manager, said, “We’re delighted with our new online portal which far exceeds anything we’ve had before. Launched at the end of 2016 it has been a great success. Designed around the needs of intermediaries, the feedback has been brilliant – that it’s quick and user-friendly. Coupled with our existing website, which provides intermediaries with the ability to check our affordability calculator, lending criteria and product guide, everything is online and they can submit a case from start to finish in great time.

Shafeen Daya from Alexander Hall said, “The Teachers portal has made a huge difference in the whole pre-application and post application processes. From my own experience I’m now able to obtain mortgage illustrations myself and tailor them to my clients’ needs at the touch of a button.

By being able to work out the client’s borrowing capacity, getting an agreement in principle processed and obtaining the Mortgage Illustration, the portal allows us to work  efficiently with our client’s needs. The actual mortgage application on the new portal is very simple to use and can be fully submitted within minutes. It’s been set up well with thought given about how advisors would use the system.”

Sarah Woolven, Digital Marketing Director at Appius, said: “We are proud to have worked with Teachers Building Society on the delivery of a new broker portal, part of an ongoing programme of digital transformation to truly deliver their ‘Surprising Different’ ethos online.

By combining best practise user experience with complex data integration we have created a system that is faster, and puts the broker’s needs at the heart of the tool, whilst giving Teachers greater flexibility and visibility over the online application process.

Teachers Building Society has a clear vision to create exceptional digital experiences that users would expect from the largest financial organisations. This makes them an exciting and progressive digital partner, and we look forward to working with them across 2017.

The new online portal includes access to the range of mortgage products from Teachers Building Society, including Help to Buy and Shared Ownership mortgages. It also allows intermediaries to apply for specialist cases, including teachers working on contracts, Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) and those on supply and teachers approaching retirement.
