State Street’s 2018 UK Institutional Press Awards Open for Entries
State Street Corporation announces its call for entries for its seventeenth annual State Street Institutional Press Awards, which recognises outstanding performance in institutional financial services reporting in the UK.
Building on the success of previous years, the 2018 Awards will honour the contributions of journalists covering institutional investment, pensions, investor services, diversity and inclusion and technology themes over the past year.
In recognition of prevailing macro-economic themes, the awards will now include a new “Journalist of the Year – Business Market Commentary” category.
For 2018, the Awards will recognise excellence in journalism in the following thirteen categories:
- Journalist of the Year – Pensions
- Journalist of the Year – Regulation
- Journalist of the Year – Investment
- Journalist of the Year – Business Market Commentary
- Journalist of the Year – Investor Services
- Journalist of the Year – Alternatives
- Journalist of the Year – Passive Investment / Indexing (including ETFs)
- Journalist of the Year – Data, Technology & Innovation
- Journalist of the Year – Diversity & Inclusion
- Breaking News Journalist of the Year
- Best Newcomer
- Best Editorial Comment
- Outstanding Contribution to Institutional Journalism 2018
The winners in each category will be announced at a ceremony in London on Wednesday, November 7, 2018.
Julian Marr, editor of Professional Adviser and Padraig Floyd, a veteran financial journalist will serve as lead judges. They will be supported by a five-strong panel of respected figures from the UK and European financial services industry. The judging panel for 2018 is as follows:
- Richard Butcher, PLSA Chair
- Gill Wadsworth, freelance journalist
- Lynn Strongin Dodds, freelance journalist
- Malcolm McLean, OBE, consultant, Barnett Waddingham
- Karen Tso, CNBC anchor
State Street welcomes submissions from journalists / publications wishing to enter in any of the twelve categories eligible for self-nomination. Entrants should complete the entry form, submitting two supporting articles per category entered, published over the past 12 months ( August 2017 – July 2018). The same articles cannot be submitted in multiple categories.
The “Outstanding Contribution to Journalism” Award is given at the discretion of the judging panel and looks to recognise a journalist that has made an outstanding contribution to institutional journalism over their career. This is not a category for which one can submit an entry, but nominations are welcome.
Entries will be judged on style, content, accuracy and timeliness. All entries must be submitted by email to statestreetawardsUK@citigatedewerogerson.com by Monday, August 20, 2018.
