Sheila Warren Named CEO of the Crypto Council for Innovation

The Crypto Council for Innovation (CCI), a global alliance of crypto industry leaders, today announced Sheila Warren will assume the Chief Executive Officer role. Warren will start on February 2, 2022.

“Sheila’s reputation as a strong and collaborative leader, in-depth knowledge of crypto, and extensive experience interfacing with governments worldwide make her an ideal ambassador for bridging the crypto and policy worlds,” said Fred Ehrsam, co-founder and managing partner at Paradigm and CCI board member. “We are excited for the organization’s next chapter under her leadership, demonstrating and communicating the transformational benefits of crypto to policymakers, regulators, and people around the globe.”

Previously, Warren led executive strategy development and management for the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution at the World Economic Forum. While at the Forum, Warren significantly expanded the organization’s portfolio in her roles as head of data, blockchain and digital assets and founder of the Forum’s blockchain and distributed ledger technology platform. Her many accomplishments include her work with companies and governments around the world to shape technology governance.

“The crypto ecosystem is poised to deliver large-scale economic growth, empower communities, and improve lives all over the world,” said Sheila Warren. “I am excited to drive CCI’s mission of realizing the transformative potential of crypto through education and advocacy for a responsible, forward-thinking global policy environment that will ensure that crypto’s benefits are accessible to all people, regardless of their current economic privilege.”

Based in San Francisco, Warren previously worked as a senior executive for civic tech organizations including TechSoup, and built NGOsource, an initiative funded by the Gates and Hewlett Foundations. She began her career as a Wall Street attorney at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, after she graduated with honors from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.

Warren currently co-hosts CoinDesk’s top show, Money Reimagined, and serves as a member on several crypto and financial industry boards. She is well-known for her dedication to enhancing inclusion in the blockchain ecosystem.

CCI was established by founding members Block, Coinbase, Fidelity Digital Assets, and Paradigm, and includes members Andreessen Horowitz and Ribbit Capital. Since its launch in April 2021, the alliance co-hosted a bitcoin-focused virtual event featuring Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey, and Cathie Wood and published “Analysis of Bitcoin’s Use in Illicit Finance,” with former CIA Acting Director Michael Morell.
