Sberbank Technology reports on its most successful IT projects of 2014

The central office of CJSC Sberbank Technology (a subsidiary IT company of Sberbank of Russia) hosted a press briefing at which the company reported on its activities in 2014 and presented plans for 2015.

Alisa Melnikova, General Director of CJSC Sberbank Technology, talked about key projects. Sberbank Technology’s priority areas include the “18+” programme, which was launched in 2014. The programme aims to cut in half the time required to launch new Sberbank services, increase productiveness of back-office employees, and grow the reliability and scalability of the back-office part of the automated banking system. As a result of these actions the total cost of ownership of the IT infrastructure will be more than two times lower.

“99.99%” – the programme for ensuring reliability of the bank’s automated systems – is one of the key points of Sberbank’s 2018 IT strategy. When the company reaches 99.99% reliability, the downtime of the bank’s critical IT systems will equal no more than 52.5 minutes per year. Currently the total time that systems are inaccessible has been lowered by four times, and during maintenance work – by 2.5 times.

Another important programme that Alisa Melnikova talked about was the “Single Frontal System”, which harmonises the client service process, and makes it convenient for Sberbank branch employees as well as clients.

Among the company’s successful projects in 2014, the General Director of Sberbank Technology listed the launch of automated HR process management systems; solutions for managing in-house activity at 10 of Sberbank’s Regional Banks; photo analysis system, which is effective tool for combatting fraud; mobile internet bank for legal entities; personal finances function in Sberbank Online, and also the project to replace PIN-code envelopes for debit cards.

In 2015 the portfolio of Sberbank IT projects will grow along with the extent of Sberbank Technology’s participation in the projects. In connection with this the contract between CJSC Sberbank Technology and Sberbank for 2015 is worth RUB 16.3 bln.

Sberbank’s corporate site was switched to a new technological platform in 2015. Work is continuing on a project that will make Sberbank Online available on self-service devices. Among other projects, systems for managing in-house activity at six more Regional Banks will be deployed, a service for taking out loans via remote service channels will be introduced and it will be possible to open accounts without visiting a branch.

“We make unique software for a unique bank,” commented Alisa Melnikova. “Our task is to continue making reliable and efficient software. As our skills and expertise develop we will provide technological solutions that help build on the competitiveness of the Sberbank Group.”
