Republic Acquires Seedrs to create World’s First Global Private Investment Platform
Online Equity Crowdfunding Company Seedrs, has been acquired by Republic: A U.S.-based private investment platform.
Together, Seedrs and Republic aim to build the first global private investment platform.
Over the last 10 years, Seedrs has seen impressive growth. Seedrs has grown from a startup to become Europe’s leading online private investment platform, facilitating almost £1.5billion in investments to date, and hosting some of the industry’s biggest success stories such as Revolut and Allplants.
Jeff Lynn and Carlo Silva first created Seedrs in 2012, with the vision of supporting an emerging European startup ecosystem by providing better access to finance through democratised investment.
Republic’s acquisition of Seedrs includes capital to allow Seedrs to enhance its European expansion.
“Both Republic & Seedrs see great potential in Europe as the next growth market for private equity investment,” said Jeff Kelisky, CEO of Seedrs. “I am excited to say that Seedrs will not only continue to serve the exciting UK and European businesses and investors, but with Republic’s firepower behind us, we will continue to redefine the segment by leading on innovation, customer service, supporting divesting and trust.”
“Our Mission remains unchanged, but now we will have more resources to continue building innovative products that serve our business and investors in the best way possible” Kelisky added.
“There will be much more to come as we complete the deal over the next few months and work together to build a powerful platform that delivers on the strengths of both businesses and provides direct access to European & US investors”
