dLocal and Cleeng Power Digital Subscription Growth With Cutting-Edge Local Payment Solutions in Emerging Markets

dLocal (NASDAQ: DLO), a leading cross-border payment platform connecting global merchants to emerging markets, announces a new partnership with Cleeng, a SaaS platform specializing in Subscriber Retention Management (SRM®) for D2C subscriptions. This collaboration will enable Brazilian subscription services and digital content providers to offer local payment methods such as PIX, through the orchestration capabilities of Primer, ensuring smooth subscription billing and improved customer experiences.

Brazil’s digital subscription sector is rapidly expanding, powered by some of the highest internet penetration in Latin America—over 86% of the population is connected. The broader digital transformation market, which includes these services, is projected to reach USD 75.8 billion by 2030, underscoring strong demand for digital and recurring offerings. Yet, recurring billing and churn remain key challenges due to limited credit card use and payment failures, while the growth of local payment solutions is making subscriptions more accessible and reliable for consumers.

This partnership addresses these challenges by combining Cleeng’s advanced subscriber management platform with dLocal’s extensive local payment infrastructure across emerging markets, starting in Brazil with PIX. Through this alliance, merchants benefit from streamlined subscription billing with lower failure risk and higher conversion rates. By offering familiar and widely used payment methods, the solution improves the overall user experience, making subscriptions more accessible and reliable for a broader audience, without relying on international credit cards.

Cleeng acts as a Merchant of Record to D2C subscription platforms and apps, while dLocal powers the pay-in process in Brazil through PIX payments, orchestrated by Primer’s technology. Looking ahead, the partnership plans to expand capabilities with credit card acquiring to further increase payment coverage across the country.

“Partnering with dLocal enables us to deliver truly local payment experiences in emerging markets like Brazil, where consumer preferences and payment habits are rapidly evolving,” said Enzo Bermond, Senior Product Manager at Cleeng. “By integrating PIX, we empower our clients to reach broader audiences and reduce friction in the subscription journey, ultimately driving growth and retention in one of the world’s most dynamic subscription markets.”

“This collaboration with Cleeng exemplifies our commitment to tackling the key challenges in the digital subscription space by providing local and alternative payment solutions tailored to emerging markets,” Andrea Wajl, Head of Account Management at dLocal. “By leveraging our robust infrastructure and deep local expertise, we deliver seamless payment experiences that increase conversion rates, reduce churn, and unlock new growth opportunities for global media companies.”
