Blink Payment Launches Card Present API to Connect in-person Payments

Paytech platform Blink Payment has launched its Card Present API, enabling Integrated Software Vendor (ISV) partners and merchants to seamlessly integrate in-person payments and real-time reporting directly into their own platforms.

Building bespoke card present capabilities has traditionally proved to be slow and expensive for ISVs, who typically face integration, terminal setup, compliance and maintenance challenges in developing their own solutions.

Blink’s cloud-based card present API solves this long-standing integration gap, by effortlessly integrating in-person payment capability directly into an ISV’s system with minimal set up. Once an ISV has integrated Blink’s API, Blink handles all terminal set up, connectivity and support.

“In-person payments have long been the missing piece of a truly unified commerce experience. ISVs face huge challenges in developing, integrating and managing bespoke in-person capabilities. Quite simply, Blink’s Card Present API removes these pain points.” said Ben Cohen, Co-founder and CEO at Blink Payments.

“The Card Present API represents a significant evolution for Blink Payment and for ISV partners who want to offer a fully connected, modern payment experience without months of development. It helps merchants make faster decisions, reduce reconciliation effort and understand their business as it is happening” he added.

For merchants, integration with in-person payments offers the benefit of real-time reporting. Without instant reporting, in-person transactions typically take on average 1-3 business days to be visible, negatively impacting merchants’ operational efficiency and reconciliation time.

The API also offers ISVs and their merchants a seamless omnichannel experience with online and in-person payments appearing instantly side by side, in both the ISV’s own platform and the Blink Payment platform. Online and in-store payments no longer need to be reconciled separately.

Blink’s Card Present API will initially run on two of Verifone’s most popular Android-based terminals: the T650p and P630. For merchants, the terminals are fully configured and connected through Blink; no separate Verifone setup is required.
