PayPal Adds Pix to Power Growth for Millions of Small Businesses in Brazil
PayPal is bringing Pix, the instant payment method used by more than 170 million Brazilians, to small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), enabling faster checkout and helping merchants capture more sales in one of the world’s most dynamic digital payments markets.
With Pix now available through PayPal Complete Payments (PPCP), small businesses can offer Brazil’s most widely used payment method directly at checkout, reducing friction and meeting consumers where they already transact every day.
As PayPal celebrates 15 years of operations in Brazil in 2026, the Pix launch marks the latest step in a broader strategy to support SMBs with local payment methods, new partnerships and high-conversion commerce solutions.
Launched in Brazil in 2025, PayPal Complete Payments (PPCP) is an all-in-one platform that combines cards, local payment methods, and business tools in a single integration. The addition of Pix allows SMBs to deliver a locally preferred payment experience while benefiting from PayPal’s global reach, fraud protection, and cross-border capabilities—all within one platform.
“Pix is how Brazil pays today, with more than 170 million people already using it,” said Brunno Saura, General Manager of PayPal Brazil. “By bringing Pix into PayPal Complete Payments, we’re giving entrepreneurs a high-conversion way to get paid that combines a payment method Brazilians know with the trust, security, and global reach that PayPal is known for.”
Since Pix was created in 2020 through September 2025, Pix has processed about 196 billion transactions, moving roughly USD 16 trillion, more than seven times Brazil’s 2024 GDP1. According to Central Bank data, more than 170 million individuals, representing over 90% of Brazil’s adult population have already used Pix. In January 2026 alone, the system recorded more than 7 billion transactions, moving over R$3 trillion per month[i].
PayPal’s initiative also aligns with the priorities identified by entrepreneurs when choosing a payments provider. According to the study PayPal Panorama: SMBs and Digital Commerce in Brazil 2025, transaction security (49%) and ease of use (39%) are among the main criteria considered by SMBs in this process.
The survey also shows that digital payment tools are among the most valued resources by entrepreneurs: six out of ten consider these solutions essential for making a difference in their businesses, and 77% already use payment platforms to operate in the digital environment.
The launch comes as Latin America’s digital commerce market is projected to approach $944 billion by 2026, with Brazil emerging as one of the world’s largest online consumer bases. Pix already account for around one-third of the value of Brazil’s online sales and is expected to reach about 40% of online payments in the country by 20262.
