Mollie launches physical payments terminal

Mollie, a Dutch payments company, has announced the launch of a new in-person payments solution called Mollie Terminal. Initially available in Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands, Mollie Terminal aims to complement the company’s existing in-person payments option using QR codes. The introduction of this solution is in response to the demand from Mollie’s 130,000 customers, many of whom operate both physical and online stores.

The integration of in-person and online payments, known as “unified commerce,” will work in conjunction with the Mollie Dashboard. This feature enables merchants to manage and reconcile all processed payments in one centralized location.

Mollie CEO Koen Koppen emphasized that the launch of Mollie Terminal is a significant milestone and a crucial component of their in-person payments offering. The company aims to strengthen its position in the unified commerce payments market. By expanding their services offline, Mollie seeks to meet the needs of their customers who have already shown appreciation for their online proposition.

The Mollie Terminal provides companies with a seamless integration of in-person payment capabilities into their existing platforms through a single API for both online and offline transactions. The solution promises competitive pricing, local support, and flexibility, aligning with Mollie’s commitment to delivering an integrated and cost-effective point of sale solution for merchants.

In addition to the Mollie Terminal launch, the company has plans to introduce Tap to Pay for Android later this year. Furthermore, Mollie aims to expand its services to other European markets following the initial rollout.

Overall, Mollie’s launch of Mollie Terminal and its focus on providing a unified commerce experience reflects its dedication to catering to the evolving needs of merchants operating across both physical and online retail channels.
