Metro Bank Receives Gold Award From Ministry of Defence in Recognition of Its Work Supporting the Armed Forces

Metro Bank, the UK’s community bank, has just received a Gold Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) award by the National Employer Recognition Board on behalf of Defence in recognition of its work supporting the Armed Forces.

“I am absolutely delighted that Metro Bank has been recognised with this prestigious award,” said Dan Frumkin, CEO, Metro Bank. “We are dedicated in our commitment to support both those who currently serve and those who have served our country including veterans, reservists and forces’ families, as well as the communities in which they reside. Metro Bank will continue to honour and support this special community.”

The Ministry of Defence recognises companies with Gold Awards if they meet a number of criteria including being active participants of the Armed Forces Covenant; being employers with forces-friendly policies as part of new colleague recruitment and selection and that their workforce is aware of the their positive policies towards defence people issues. Metro Bank actively supports any of its colleagues who wish to join the Armed Forces Reserves and offers an extra ten days annual paid leave on top of a colleague’s usual allocation to conduct essential training. If colleagues are called upon for active duty, Metro Bank has created a one click notification to line managers to allow Reservists to be swiftly deployed and support the UK when they are called upon.

The Gold Award remains valid for five years.
