JPMorgan Chase supports digital bootcamps for marginalised entrepreneurs in London and the South East

JPMorgan Chase has supported a series of free business bootcamps aimed at helping marginalised entrepreneurs and self-starters in London and the South East turbocharge their digital capabilities, starting this week/ April 3.

The bootcamps are part of the business.connected initiative, a successful digital business learning project lead by Vodafone and supported by a number of leading banking and technology companies including JPMorgan Chase, accounting software firm Sage, software solution company Builder.ai and delivered by small business support platform Enterprise Nation.

The hybrid bootcamps will specifically help start-up and small business owners who are facing early-stage barriers to tech adoption like digital skills, literacy, cost, time-to-adopt or negative perceptions of technology.

Increasing digital adoption is understood to be a key-way to improve productivity and help the smallest firms navigate economic challenges.

Emma Jones, CBE, founder of Enterprise Nation, said: “By joining the dots between personal technology usage such as smart phones, to how using free tools such as social media could increase awareness and ultimately sales, is a vital step change for these marginalised businesses.

“Once they have done this, these companies can then build on that and broaden their business tech knowledge through the free tools and resources available from schemes like business.connected. Each bootcamp series will consist of six online sessions, with the final event in the series taking place in person.

Each participant will take part in six two-hour sessions to cover:

  • How to use social media
  • How to design and create a website page
  • Creating a digital marketing strategy
  • Selling products or services online
  • Using Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to improve website ranking
  • Creating effective photo and video content (practical in-person workshop)
  • Each participant will be able to access practical online in between sessions including guides, blogs and webinars as well as a 15-minute one-to-one adviser session.

The first bootcamp series starts in April, followed by September and the rest will take place over the next two years.
