International conference on practical cybersecurity OFFZONE 2018 to take place in Moscow
BI.ZONE, a subsidiary of Sberbank, invites you to the international conference on practical cybersecurity OFFZONE 2018. It will be held at the Digital October center in Moscow on November 15-16, 2018 and will gather experts, researchers and members of the professional cybersecurity community. During the conference, Digital October venue will be teeming with an atmosphere of a postapocalyptic world, which once again reminds how serious the cyber threats facing our planet nowadays really are.
During the two days of the conference, more than 50 acknowledged cybersecurity experts will share their knowledge, experience and insights on two presentation tracks. The keynote speaker of the conference Dmitry Sklyarov will open the main presentation track with a report on how the cybersecurity industry has changed over the last 20 years. BI.ZONE experts will report on the latest developments in biometric technologies, as well as cover in great detail the issues of certain vulnerabilities, the discovery of which had a huge impact on the world community. Various thematic areas will host discussions on the most pressing issues of network protection at all levels, including the shortcomings that arise at the stage of device assembly. Such vulnerabilities in the company’s infrastructure can be eliminated only through a complete hardware upgrade, which entails enormous costs. In HARDWARE zone the participants will have a chance to learn how to avoid such situations and what to focus on in the first place.
The conference organizers pay special attention to the security of the financial industry which nowadays is the main target of organized cybercrime. In the FINANCE zone, participants will be able to learn how processing works and what its vulnerabilities are, what fraud is and why transactions are sometimes blocked by banks, as well as how much more secure a modern ATM is than its predecessor used to be just a few years ago, and much more.
The conference will also host the finals stage of the annual ethical hacking competition CTFZONE 2018, which has been attracting participants from all over the world for several years. More than 1000 teams from 50 countries took part in the qualifying stage of the competition, but only the 10 top teams from Russia, Hungary, Poland, South Korea, Ukraine and China qualified for the finals stage. The finals stage will require the participants to find as many vulnerabilities in their opponents’ services as possible, while at the same time repelling the attacks of rivals and protecting their own systems. The prize fund of the competition amounts to $18 000.
Apart from attending the presentations within the main framework of the conference, OFFZONE participants also can put their skills to test in special areas of the conference partners and sponsors, as well as fully immerse into an atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic world thanks to a variety of additional activities.
