Imran Gulamhuseinwala to give keynote address at Global Open Finance Summit
Imran Gulamhuseinwala, Trustee of the Open Banking Implementation Entity (OBIE), has been announced as the keynote speaker at next week’s Global Open Finance Summit.
Mr Gulamhuseinwala is one of the UK’s most respected experts on open banking, who in his role as Trustee has oversight and responsibility for Open Banking’s development and delivery of the common technical standards underpinning the Competition and Market Authority’s (CMA) open banking initiative.
The FDATA Global Open Finance Summit which takes place in Edinburgh next week brings together key regulators, policy makers, technical standards groups and financial sector industry leaders from around the world to discuss and debate the delivery of open finance.
The Summit aims to promote alignment and sharing of best practice, whilst reducing complexity, risk and costs. The agenda includes a line-up of the most influential speakers in the world and opens with Mr Gulamhuseinwala’s keynote address on the future of open finance.
Speaking ahead of the Summit, Imran Gulamhuseinwala said:
“2020 is a big year for open banking. Over the past two years we’ve created a single API standard allowing UK consumers and small businesses to share access to their data with authorised third parties in a safe and secure way. We can already see how open banking has the potential to rebalance the market in favour of the consumer. And now government and industry are beginning to look at how this approach can be applied beyond banking and into the world of smart data and open finance.”
FDATA Global Chairman Gavin Littlejohn added:
“Imran Gulamhuseinwala is at the cutting edge of open banking, driving forward standards and delivery and we’re delighted to be bringing him to Edinburgh to deliver the keynote address at the FDATA Global Open Finance Summit.
“Imran’s opening session will be followed by an agenda comprising of regulators, policy makers and financial sector leaders, forming a series of panel sessions and debates exploring fully the delivery of open finance, a market model which presents a unique opportunity to ensure that consumers and businesses across the world are empowered with the right to share their financial data with regulated actors of their choosing.
“This is a critical time for our sector and we are indebted to all the industry leaders who are coming to Scotland next month to share their expertise.”
The Global Open Finance Summit takes place over two days in Edinburgh’s iconic McEwan Hall culminating in a prestigious Awards Dinner at the National Museum of Scotland.
