ifs University College Set to Become The London Institute of Banking and Finance

Leading financial education provider ifs University College is to change its name to The London Institute of Banking & Finance.

The new name will come into effect in September 2016 to coincide with the start of the new academic year.

ifs University College is a unique provider of professional and academic education to those aspiring to, or already undertaking, a career within banking and finance. The institution’s portfolio stretches from financial capability courses for school children, through undergraduate degrees to recognised industry standard qualifications.

Formerly The Chartered Institute of Bankers, its roots stretch back to 1879 and since then it has been at the backbone of industry-leading professional education. The decision by the trustees of ifs University College to change the name of the organisation follows a comprehensive strategic review that took place in 2015. The review involved extensive consultation with the organisation’s students, members, alumni, academic community and financial services industry employers.

Alex Fraser, Principal at ifs University College, said:

Our new name – The London Institute of Banking & Finance – is an exciting development for everyone connected with the organisation. It reflects our vision to be a globally recognised provider of outstanding financial education and makes our purpose and remit extremely clear.

Our new name will help employers to understand the highly relevant, professional and applied nature of our programmes which in turn will enhance the recognition that our students, members and alumni receive for their achievements. It will also help prospective students across all of our programmes to understand the unique role that we play in supporting their lifelong careers in banking and finance.
