Glase FinTech acquires Seqr Group and rebrands the mobile payment app to Glase
In December 2017, Glase FinTech acquired Seqr Group AB and its mobile payment app, Seqr. The acquisition led to a complete and comprehensive rebranding of the company which resulted in the new payment app – Glase. The product and its functionalities remain largely unchanged. The company is now launching a full scale roll-out of the new brand in Europe.
“Our transformation started with the acquisition of Seqr”, says Peter Fredell, CEO of Glase FinTech AB. “We are rebranding Seqr to Glase in order to create an even more exciting, user friendly and relevant consumer product. At Glase we are innovators and we want our entire brand identity to reflect that.”
“With this change, we want to show consumers that we continuously develop and aim toprovide an enticing, innovative product for everyday use. A product that breathes and embodies our core values: trustworthiness, independence, convenience and exploration” says Peter Fredell, CEO.
Glase enables contactless payments with your smartphone. Users simply hold their phone next to contactless card terminals to Tap & Pay. It is a quick and easy alternative to cash and/or cards, since there is no need to enter a PIN code for low value transactions. Personal details are always protected. Contactless payments are possible wherever contactless payments are accepted within the Mastercard network, currently around 36 million point-of-sales worldwide, even if a retailer has no private agreement with Glase. It has been decided by the card networks that all card terminals in Europe have to accept contactless payments by the end of 2019.
In addition to contactless payments, Glase also offers QR code payments. The user simply scans the QR code at the checkout and approves the purchase by entering a PIN.
Furthermore, money can be transmitted instantly, person-to-person (P2P) to another Glase user regardless of the user’s location in the world. There is no need for users to link a bank account, since the money is transferred to their Glase account.
Glase is the only platform independent pan-European mobile payment company. Independent from any bank, credit card provider, smartphone manufacturer and other.
Glase is available for download in Google Play Store and App Store.
