G+D Mobile Security’s eSIM Technology is integrated into the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip

eSIM technology is one of the many innovative features integrated into the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip smartphone, which was launched 14th February 2020. The eSIM technology is supplied by G+D Mobile Security.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is equipped with an eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) which is permanently fitted into the smartphone and equipped with the market proven eOS (embedded operating system) from G+D Mobile Security. Users can download their SIM profiles onto this chip securely and easily “over the air”, making the familiar process of inserting a physical SIM card into the smartphone a thing of the past.

The eSIM technology facilitates over-the-air activation of mobile network contracts for users, as it eliminates the need to order SIM cards when a new contract commences or when they change providers; and there is no more grappling with different formats either, users can simply activate a local mobile network provider in the process.

The eUICC installed in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip utilizes G+D Mobile Security’s market leading embedded operating system (eOS) which meets all current GSMA eSIM requirements for consumer device interoperability and is the most widely adopted and deployed eOS for eSIM enablement of consumer devices.

“Following its successful use in Samsung smartwatches, we are delighted that our innovative eSIM technology has been integrated into the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip,” says Carsten Ahrens, CEO of G+D Mobile Security. “The fact that market leaders for smartphones are opting to incorporate eSIM technology into their latest devices is a sure sign that we are on the verge of an eSIM breakthrough into mainstream products”.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip with G+D Mobile eSIM technology will be available starting from February 2020. eSIM availability of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip may vary by region and carrier.
