Fusang Exchange Appoints Chairman

Fusang Exchange, Asia’s first licensed Securities Exchange focused on digital assets, announces that the Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) has approved the appointment of General Tan Sri (Dr.) Dato’ Paduka Mohamed Hashim Bin Mohd. Ali (Rtd) as Chairman of its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

“We’re honoured that Tan Sri Hashim has agreed to join the Fusang Exchange team,” said Henry Chong, Chief Executive Officer of Fusang. “Building Asia’s first fully-licensed Securities Exchange focused on digital assets is an ambitious undertaking, and having someone with his depth of expertise is a testament to the vision and direction of the company.”

Tan Sri Hashim has had a distinguished corporate career and currently serves as Chairman of several companies in Southeast Asia, including Ajinomoto (Malaysia) Berhad and Datasonic Group Berhad. Before entering the corporate world, Tan Sri Hashim served as the Chief of Defence Forces in the Malaysian Armed Forces, giving nearly 40 years of dedicated service. During his tenure, he was responsible for the re-organisation and modernisation of the Army.

“I’m delighted to be joining the Fusang team who are at the forefront of institutionalising digital assets,” said Tan Sri Hashim. “Their emphasis on compliance and safety will underpin the future of the industry and I look forward to using my experience to bring this to reality.”

As a licensed Securities Exchange, the Fusang Exchange will be able to offer primary listings of public companies, and will support the trading of tokenised securities, cryptocurrencies, and fiat currencies. Fusang Exchange is expected to launch in the second half of 2019.
