Nottingham Building Society Appoints Gareth Hagger-Johnson as Director of Data Strategy

Nottingham Building Society has today announced the appointment of Dr Gareth Hagger-Johnson as Director of Data Strategy (DDS). In this newly created role, Gareth will develop a new data and insights framework for The Nottingham to increase the value of services to customers and deliver on the organisation’s strategic vision for future growth.

Gareth joins The Nottingham from London-based PCF Bank where he had been Head of Data since July 2021. A data professional with over 15 years of experience, Gareth has provided actionable data-driven insights for clients in several industries including financial services, FMCG, and digital health. Previously, Gareth has held roles at C. Hoare & Co, Kantar Worldpanel, and University College London.

In this new role, Gareth will be responsible for leading all aspects of data and insight management at The Nottingham, with the ultimate aim of creating an industry leading capability which will increase the value of services to customers, colleagues and communities. Gareth will report to Chief Technology and Transformation Officer Paul Howley.

Chief Technology and Transformation Officer, Paul Howley, commented: “Gareth’s technical experience in data engineering, data architecture and data transformation will be invaluable to the business. This new appointment is a milestone in helping transform The Nottingham into a leader in the industry through the application of ground-breaking data-driven insights.”

The appointment marks another key senior leadership appointment for The Nottingham, following Anthony Murphy being announced as Chief Financial Officer from March and Paul Howley joining as the first ever Chief Technology and Transformation Office in December. During this time, the executive team have also launched the Society’s strategic blueprint for future growth through delivery of its new purpose to colleagues.
