Klarna Opens New Hub in Warsaw to Recruit 100 of Poland’s Top Tech Talents
Klarna, the AI-powered global payments network and shopping assistant, has announced the launch of its new technology hub in Warsaw. This strategic investment underscores Klarna’s commitment to advancing its global technology capabilities, and recognising Poland as a key player in Europe’s innovation landscape.
Klarna serves more than 85 million consumers and 600 000 merchants globally, and has had a local market presence in Poland since 2021. In recent weeks, the company has announced collaborations with Apple Pay and Google Pay, and it has a long standing partnership with OpenAI. Klarna has taken a position at the forefront of AI-driven transformation, with OpenAI recognizing Klarna as a frontrunner in using AI to deliver real-world benefits to its customers.
Klarna is now aiming to hire over 100 engineers by 2025 in Poland, offering Polish talent the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI innovations without relocating abroad.
“Poland is Europe’s next tech powerhouse”, said Sebastian Siemiatkowski, co-founder and CEO of Klarna. “Warsaw’s exceptional engineering talent, thriving startup scene, and strategic location make it the perfect choice for our new tech hub. This isn’t just about Klarna’s growth—it’s about unlocking Poland’s potential on the global stage. As someone with Polish roots, I’m excited to see Klarna deepen its connection with this dynamic community and shape the future of AI-powered commerce together.”
Why Warsaw?
Poland’s ICT sector and startup ecosystem have gained global recognition, with Warsaw emerging as a leading destination for international tech investments. Klarna’s decision to establish its tech hub in Warsaw reflects the city’s growing reputation as a center of AI innovation, rivaling established capitals like Berlin and London.
Klarna’s Warsaw hub will play a pivotal role in the company’s broader strategy to expand its global footprint and lead AI adoption. Over 9 out of 10 Klarna employees already use AI in their daily work, setting industry benchmarks for integrating AI into operations, from customer service to marketing and product development. The hub will empower engineers to drive innovations that shape the future of shopping and payments for millions of consumers worldwide.
This investment in Warsaw not only strengthens Klarna’s local impact but also highlights the company’s long-term commitment to fostering talent in Poland and positioning the country as a global hub for fintech innovation.
