Fintech firm Centtrip hosts Golfing4Life event as part of its support of the UK’s promising young stars

Fintech firm Centtrip will host an event as part of its partnership with not-for-profit Golfing4Life (G4L), which supports and equips some of the UK’s most promising young golf stars.

Junior Ryder Cup star Conor Gough and nine other young players, including elite amateurs Tom Plumb, Calum Fyfe and Charlie Strickland, will learn the importance of personal branding and how to handle the business side of professional sport.

The lessons will come from Leon Lloyd, CEO of Switch the Play, and former West Ham and Charlton manager Alan Curbishley, who will share their insights from years of experience in sport. The event has been made possible by a collaboration between sponsors: Under the Posts and The European Tour Foundation and Centtrip as host.

Tony North, CEO of Centtrip Music, said: “At Centtrip, we believe in investing in talented people and helping them achieve their full potential. For athletes, a huge part of this is preparing them for the hard work and sacrifice that comes with professional sport. It’s been a privilege to work with Golfing4Life on this project.”

The young athletes will also meet Tony Sims, the legendary Matchroom boxing coach, and will visit the UCLH Teenage Cancer Trust unit in London to meet other young people and gain perspective on how to face and overcome some of the biggest challenges that life can throw at you.

Some of our players have lost a parent or experienced a family breakdown, others have been under financial strain or have an illness,” said James Byers, co-founder of Golfing4Life.

I am very grateful to Leon and Alan for joining us for a day to share invaluable insights into professional sport. And I look forward to our hospital visit and introducing our players to our philanthropic core and the magnificent work of the Teenage Cancer Trust.”

The G4L initiative prides itself on providing support at the right time, whether that be life adversity, a loss of form or deselection. It also includes educational support and vocational opportunities.

Centtrip, a fintech firm which specialises in FX, international payments and treasury management, has been sponsoring G4L since its inception in 2013.
