eToro Reactive Comment: RBS Quarterly Results
Mati Greenspan, Senior Market Analyst at eToro:
“These results mark the latest in a string of good performances for the UK banking sector, with strong performances by both Lloyds and Barclays.
“Analysts have been forecasting a swing towards net profit so this doesn’t come as any great surprise. Indeed, sentiment towards RBS on the eToro platform has been looking very positive all week, with investors twice as bullish towards the stock compared to the days leading up to RBS’ annual results three months ago.
“This is encouraging to see amid concerns that Brexit will hit the UK’s financial sector.
“These strong performances ultimately reveal the monopoly the established banks maintain. Challenger banks are increasingly nipping at their heels, but as an investment opportunity at least, the big banks remain ahead.”
