Delio Comments on Tech Nation 2017 Report
Commenting on the Tech Nation 2017 report, Gareth Lewis, co-founder of FinTech firm Delio a white-label platform for private assets, said:
“There has been a 28% increase in the number of tech start-ups in South Wales, of which we are one. The digital tech sector is adding nearly £400m to the Welsh economy and we’re part of that driving force. This impressive growth rate shows that perceptions about starting a tech business outside of London and specifically in Wales is changing. We chose to locate in the South Wales cluster because of access to IT skills and support from the Accelerated Growth Programme and we’re part of a cluster driving strong economic growth. It’s becoming a nation of innovators who are thriving and achieving real success.
“Technology allows businesses to transcend geographical boundaries and we can do business anywhere in the world from right here in Wales. We have an international remit and as a tech start-up, we are already doing business across Europe. This regional growth doesn’t detract from London’s offering, it enhances it. The development of technological expertise around the regions complements what London has to offer and firmly cements the UK as a national tech hub – so you can do business around the country and know that you will be dealing with some of the best tech companies in the world.”
