De La Rue‘s Bathford Paper Mill in the UK has Achieved PEFC

The PEFC is the world’s largest forest certification system, promoting sustainable forest management and helping to protect the world’s trees. The certification verifies that all the woodpulp that is used at the site comes from properly managed and sustainable sources. To date more than 18,000 companies have obtained PEFC Chain of Custody Certification. PEFC provides a sustainability benchmark recognised in more than 30 countries and covering over 260 million hectares of certified forests. This certification assures the customers of Bathford’s products that the paper they receive has been sourced from suppliers that operate sustainable and responsibly managed forests. In addition to a commitment to environmental protection, Chain of Custody holders must also demonstrate that workers’ rights and welfare are protected and indigenous peoples’ human and land tenure rights are respected.

The process to obtain certification was concluded with no observations or non-conformances raised. The accreditation is valid for 5 years and is externally audited and verified annually. Commenting on the award, Process Manager at Bathford Andrew Nash said “We are delighted to have achieved this world class accreditation which demonstrates De La Rue’s continued commitment to sustainability.”
