China’s Financial Community to Join Sibos 2017 en Masse
Unprecedented representation of Chinese financial institutions expected at Sibos in Toronto
Five Chinese banks, including the Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, Baoshang Bank, China Construction Bank, and International and Commercial Bank of China, and two market infrastructures, China Central Depository & Clearing (CCDC) and China Foreign Exchange Trade System & National Interbank Funding Center (CFETS), plan to exhibit at Sibos 2017, making it the largest representation from China in the history of the event.
SWIFT has been working closely with China to support the country’s internationalisation agenda by supporting broader connectivity of the RMB, offering value-added products and services such as business intelligence or messaging conversion and networks, and working towards community engagement and standardisation.
Daphne Huang, Head of China, SWIFT said: “As China’s economy is opening up, Sibos is the venue of choice for Chinese financial institutions to come meet their peers, build networks and contribute to the future of the financial industry. China’s presence at Sibos has been growing over the years and we are delighted to receive such a strong delegation in Toronto.“
China Central Depository & Clearing Co., Ltd. (CCDC) is a core financial market infrastructure and gateway to China’s Interbank Bond Market (CIBM). This year, CCDC, as part of its efforts to facilitate China’s bond market opening-up with support from the regulatory authorities, will make its debut as an exhibitor. Mr. Ruqing SHUI, Chairman of CCDC, pointed out that, “China’s bond market has been attracting attention from global investors in recent years. We are glad to showcase our products and services to such a great number of customers and peers at Sibos, the critical platform shaping the future of the global financial world.”
The world’s premier financial services event, Sibos is an annual conference, exhibition and networking event organised by SWIFT for the financial industry. Every year, Sibos brings together around 8,000 business leaders, decision makers and experts from financial institutions, market infrastructures, multinational corporations and technology partners. The conference welcomes close to 200 exhibitors from across the world. With already seven exhibitors, China will have its strongest representation to-date in Toronto.
