Checkout.com expands footprint in France, appoints new Director-General
Checkout.com, the global payments solution provider, unveils its new, larger office for its 150 employees in Paris, France. The expansion marks Checkout.com’s continued commitment and investment in the French market as it bolsters operations across Europe.
“I’m pleased to announce the opening of our new office to facilitate the growth of Checkout.com in France as a strategic market for us,” said Céline Dufétel, President & COO at Checkout.com. “Our local presence here enables us to better serve our clients in the region and help them thrive in the digital economy.”
The business has also appointed Patrick Starkman, as its new Director-General bringing a wealth of experience in both legal and regulatory matters across Europe. Checkout.com has been serving France since its inception in 2012 and has held its European Economic Area (EEA) headquarters in France since the British exit from the European Union. Checkout.com was awarded an Electronic Money Institution license (EMI) by the ACPR in 2019. Since then its team has grown to over 150 and Checkout.com now powers vast swathes of the European digital economy from its French operations.
The launch of the new Paris office will serve as a key hub for the region, supporting French businesses operating at the forefront of the digital economy. This move is part of Checkout.com’s strategic plans to support its clients with dedicated, local payment experts. This, combined with its powerful full-stack payments platform, has resulted in brands such as Veepee, Cheerz, Alma, Interflora, Backmarket, Swile, Qonto and Qobuz appointing Checkout.com as their payments partner.
The new office is located in the heart of the city in the 9th Arrondissement. It will for the first time, bring together Checkout.com and Ubble colleagues to work in close partnership to continue developing a suite of features and solutions to provide a seamless experience for businesses in France and beyond.
This news follows, Ubble – the digital identity verification business acquired by Checkout.com in 2022 – announced it was the first organisation in France to secure the Security Visa for Remote Identity Verification Providers (PVID) certification from the ANSSI (Agence nationale de la sécurité des systèmes d’information). This established Ubble as a pioneer in the space, allowing it to serve clients a seamless and scalable approach to identity verification.
