CBI’s CEO Liliana Fratini Passi appointed Vice President at UN/CEFACT
UN / CEFACT, the United Nations Centre for the facilitation of commercial exchanges and electronic business, appointed Liliana Fratini Passi as Vice President, upon proposal made by the Italian institutions and, in particular, by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In the new role, Liliana Fratini Passi will be supporting the President of UN / CEFACT, Sue Probert, in the development of the International Supply Chain Program Development Area activities, in particular in the Finance and Payments sectors.
UN / CEFACT (United Nations Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business) is an intergovernmental body that aims to simplify the mechanisms in international trade and operates under the coordination of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The latter is made up of 56 Member States in Europe, North America and Asia and aims at promoting economic integration and supporting countries in implementing the 2030 Agenda regarding sustainable development goals.
Liliana Fratini Passi is CEO at CBI, the public limited consortium company for the financial sector in Italy. With 405 member banks and customers, it aims at developing interoperable payment infrastructures and services for the Public Administration, companies and citizens, helping to create standards for a cashless society and fostering the process of digitalization of the country.

For over fifteen years Fratini Passi had put his experience at the service of the activities of the UN / CEFACT, assuming in 2011 the role of Domain Coordinator of the “Finance and Payment” working group, whose activities are aimed at developing standards and recommendations within the financial value chain. In 2013, she was appointed “Liaison Officer” of UN / CEFACT towards ISOTC68, with the aim of pursuing maximum synergy and interoperability in the financial services sector, and avoiding overlap between the two bodies. Finally, between 2017 and 2019, by decree of the Ministry of Economic Development, Fratini Passi was named President of the “Financial Services” Working Group of the National Committee on Trade Facilitation, with the responsibility of identifying the best practices and tools to ease the cash flows of collections and payments in international trade.
