Avaloq bolsters UK sales team with senior appointment

Avaloq, a global leader in digital banking solutions, core banking software and wealth management technology, is continuing to strengthen its UK sales team with the appointment of Doug McCourt as Head of Key Account Management UK. Based in London, Doug will focus on developing key account relationships, expanding Avaloq’s presence in the UK and accelerating the development of the business’ market-leading digital platforms. He reports to Jonathan Davis, UK Managing Director.

Doug brings over 25 years’ experience in sales and business development in the tech sector. He joins from IBM, where he had worked for the past seven years, most recently as Global Client Executive, Banking & Financial Markets. Prior to IBM, he held senior positions at Computacenter, Telefonica and Gartner. At Avaloq, Doug will be responsible for leading the team of Key Account Managers, expanding and maintaining key account relationships and promoting and accelerating the development of Avaloq’s market-leading core banking software suite and its award-winning SaaS and BPaaS solutions.

Avaloq’s UK team has gone from strength to strength over the past few years. With over 160 members of staff in the UK, including around 50 in the London office, Doug’s appointment complements ongoing growth within the London-based implementation team. Avaloq’s UK clients now include Barclays, Brewin Dolphin, Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management, Coutts and Tilney, Smith & Williamson, among others.

Avaloq is very well positioned to help wealth managers and private banks in the UK capitalise on the shift to in-house or outsourced digital business models as well as new challenges and demands such as increased compliance requirements and the growing focus on ESG from both institutions themselves and private clients. In 2020, Avaloq’s expanded its extensive product suite with the launch of three major new solutions – Avaloq Engage, Avaloq Wealth and Avaloq Insight – helping UK firms take advantage of the increased use of social messaging channels, the need for greater service personalisation, and advanced data analytics, respectively.

Doug McCourt, Head of Key Account Management UK at Avaloq, said: “I am excited to join Avaloq at this pivotal moment for the banking and wealth management sectors. London continues to be a leading fintech hub and the UK team is well placed to respond to the challenges of the fast-digitising UK wealth management sector and the shift to cloud-based operating models.”

Jonathan Davis, UK Managing Director, Avaloq, said: “We are delighted to welcome Doug on board to our London team.  Doug’s strong leadership skills and wealth of industry expertise will be instrumental in Avaloq’s ongoing growth in the UK market, as we continue to expand our capabilities as the leading provider of BPaaS and SaaS solutions for the UK wealth management sector”.
