AQMetrics Joins the GDPR Awareness Coalition

RegTech Firm partners with top companies to increase awareness around emerging EU data privacy regulations

AQMetrics announced that it has joined the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Awareness Coalition. AQMetrics, along with more than 80 other coalition partners including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Fujitsu and Siemens, are coming together to increase awareness among companies – from large multinational corporations to small boutique firms – of the GDPR, a new set of requirements around the collection and processing of personal information of EU citizens.

Founded by Garry Connolly, President and Founder of Host in Ireland, the GDPR Awareness Coalition is a not-for-profit, fixed-term initiative focused on raising awareness around the GDPR’s data privacy obligations which go into effect in May 2018. The new regulations apply to EU-based businesses as well as global companies that offer goods or services or monitor data within the EU.

We know firsthand how important it is to protect customer information,” said Geraldine Gibson, CEO of AQMetrics. “Information security is of paramount important at AQMetrics, so we are pleased to be joining forces with this impressive group of partners to ensure companies are aware of these new regulations. The security of personal information is critical to all of us – both professionally and personally – and we’re grateful to play a role in helping clients ensure that information is properly safeguarded.”

Widely considered the most important regulation on data privacy to be passed in the EU in the last twenty years, GDPR regulations were approved by the EU Parliament last year to replace the existing Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC. Companies found in breach of the new regulations could face fines of up to €20 million or 4% of a company’s annual turnover.

The GDPR Awareness Coalition is delighted to have AQMetrics join our growing group of partners and to welcome Geraldine as a Coalition Ambassador to help spread the word about GDPR in advance of the May 2018 deadline,” said Connolly. “By working together to bring awareness to the GDPR regulations, we can make it easier for all affected businesses to comply, and that is a benefit to everyone – the customers, the individual companies and the larger business community.
