Alternative Airlines Expands Payment Options For U.S. Travelers with Affirm Partnership

Alternative Airlines, the UK-based flight search website, announced today a partnership with Affirm, the San Francisco-based company founded by entrepreneur Max Levchin to provide fair and honest alternatives to traditional credit. This new partnership enables customers to seamlessly pay for flights over time, giving them greater access to travel.

Alternative Airlines is a travel website that specialises in finding a wide range of flights for off-the-beaten track destinations as well as popular locations and is excited to expand this experience to ensure customers are able to spread the cost of flights over monthly instalments. U.S. customers can now select Affirm as a payment option at checkout, which provides complete transparency into the total cost of the trip and shows any interest in simple dollar amounts. The purchase can be split up over 3, 6, or 12 monthly instalments and customers never pay a dollar more than what they agree to at checkout.

With the “Buy Now, Pay Later” payment solution’s increased popularity for considered purchases, Alternative Airlines is excited to add Affirm to its expansive list of over 20+ international payment options, including PayPal, Alipay from China, mobile phone-based money transfer services from East Africa (M-Pesa, Airtel and Tigo), Apple Pay, Google Pay and Visa Checkout.

Alternative Airlines Managing Director Sam Argyle stated “We’ve seen a change in flight purchasing behaviour in the U.S. market, where financing flights is growing in demand. Having the ability to spread the cost of a flight over monthly instalments provides travellers with flexibility and convenience.”

“Technology has made it easier than ever for people to explore the world,” said Max Levchin, founder and CEO at Affirm. “It should be as easy to afford your trip as it is to search and compare costs and select your seat. We are excited to give even more consumers the opportunity to select Affirm’s transparent, responsible payment option and help them explore new places.”
