In Stockholm for the FIX Nordic Trading Conference 2023, we stopped by for a conversation with Torun Reinhammar: Associate Director of Capital Markets at CDP. CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impacts.

“There is great confusion about what ESG actually means, or sustainable investment means. But that aside, a huge frustration from the industry is of course, this flurry of regulations that have come in during the last 5 years since the EU commission launched its sustainable finance action plan.”

“So these regulations actually hit almost all aspects of the financial industry. In addition to that, some of these regulations have not come in the right order. So for instance, the financial institutions now have to report on things that underlying companies in their portfolios are not yet mandated to report on.”
