Nick Kerigan, Managing Director and Head of Innovation at SWIFT sits down with Ali Paterson to talk about SWIFT’s role in Global Payments and the actions that are being taken to improve the global payments ecosystem.

Nick explains that SWIFT are working to make cross-border payments instant & frictionless in order to meet the expectations that people & businesses have. As modern users become accustomed to real-time environments, it’s important that payments can keep up with the pace of businesses. That said, Nick explains that the stakes are much higher with payments when compared to other real-time technologies like online messaging. The consequence of a payment failing to be delivered is much more substantial than a message failing to be delivered, and therefore it’s essential to ensure the reliability of real-time payment systems.
