Steve Naudé – The Effect Of Regulations

We caught up with Steve Naudé, Head of Wise Platform, to address whether regulations have enabled innovation within payments companies or if they have stifled them.

Wise is a financial technology company that provides an online platform for international money transfers, enabling individuals and businesses to send and receive money globally with low fees and real-time exchange rates.

“One of the areas of regulation that’s closest to our hearts and most important to us is how the customers see the fees when they send money internationally. We’ve been asking for years and continue to ask for stricter and tight regulation on helping customers understand how much it costs them when they send money overseas.”

“With ISO 20022 and some of these new standards, more rich information can be passed with the payment. For example, you could send the invoice along as well. So that bank doesn’t need to go back up the chain to ask the customer to send documents. It’s there already.”
