Over at MPE 2023 in Berlin, we sat down for a conversation with Peter O’Halloran, the Head of Enterprise & Digital Commerce at Carat by Fiserv. Carat is an omnichannel ecosystem that enables the world’s best brands to drive commerce anywhere.

“One of the current trends that we’re seeing is financial inclusion. We did quite a bit of work in the UK throughout Covid. One of our clients is Asda and we were able to bring gift cards to the table. We’ve been doing a gift card program for us for many many years and some of it has actually been used in schools across the UK for children to be able to use that and pay for lunches and wholesome meals.”

“Then in Covid, we had to switch that to digital because they were going to the schools and they needed to be able to use it in that shop that was local to where they live. So we’re able to make those gift cards and e-gift cards and help that. So this was financial inclusion and finding ways to help people.”
