The Fintech Show 6.09: Sustainability
For this episode of The Fintech Show, FF News’ Doug Mackenzie interviewed Peter-Jan Van De Venn, VP Global Digital Banking at Mobiquity, and Anne-Sophie Castelnau, Global Head of Sustainability at ING, to gain valuable insights into the incorporation of sustainability practices within the banking and fintech space.
“Terra is the name we use for our climate alignment approach. We, as a bank, contribute to CO2 emissions. This is with our own activities, but also through the portfolio of loans that we grant our clients with. To tackle our own activities, we monitor and we reduce the use of energy.” – Anne-Sophie Castelnau
“If you make a strategy on this, you should never look at the short term, and they (banks) will be forced to reduce carbon footprint anyways by regulation, and also to look into more dimensions of ESG … Society will also force banks to focus on this. In the longer term, they will lose clients if they don’t have these programs. It will be a competitive advantage as a bank if you are a front runner in terms of ESG.”
