At Money20/20 Europe 2023 in Amsterdam, we were joined in the FF Salon by Jethro Macdonald, Product Manager for AI and Machine Learning at SmartStream Technologies. SmartStream uses advanced technologies to help customers realise their digital strategies and create leaner post-trade operations.

“With any new technology, there’s always some reservations about its impact. I think I’m not so worried about the kind of ‘end of the world’ [AI] prophecies that some of the experts in our industry espouse. As an AI expert, we can all rest easy.”

“I think what we do need to be mindful of though is obviously bias and prejudice that could be in the software. So it’s something that we at SmartStream take a lot of pride in is we’re very transparent about how we’re using AI and then the results that it returns. We show people exactly why we’ve made a decision and really give them a lot of insight into how we’re using the technology.”
