Kuda, the Nigeria-focused neobank backed by Target Global, tripled its revenue, according to its latest audited financial statements filed with U.K. regulators where the startup is incorporated. The company’s revenue grew by 190% in 2022, the end date of the recent filing.

Kuda has partnered with SeerBit, a payment gateway, to give Kuda’s customers a safe and easy option for making cardless payments online and in the process reduce exposure to fraud.

In April 2024, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) directed five fintechs — OPay, Paga, Moniepoint, Kuda, and PalmPay — to pause new customer onboarding. Although it was reversed in June, the affected fintechs were required to update their KYC processes.

Following its new entrance into the Tanzanian and Canadian markets, Kuda will compete with other African-focused fintech startups, such as LemFi, Eversend, and Nala, operating as global neobanks for Africans in the diaspora.
