ITC Europe Challenge Lab Reveals Three Finalists to Tackle AI Liability, Powered by Generali
ITC Europe today announced the three finalists of the Challenge Lab, the interactive pitching event connecting pioneering startups and scaleups with insurance industry leaders to tackle the sector’s most pressing challenges. Selected from a competitive field of applicants, Exona Lab, Protostars, and Jsonify will take the main stage at ITC.
Europe 2026 at La Llotja de Mar, Barcelona, on 28–29 May 2026 to present their solutions to the defining liability risk of the AI era.
The Challenge Lab, delivered in partnership with Generali, invited startups and scaleups to address “AI Liability: Insuring Intelligence at Scale” by giving insurers a more systematic way to identify, monitor, govern, and respond to AI-related exposure as adoption accelerates across the value chain.
Selected by a joint panel from ITC and Generali, the three finalists stood out for combining innovation with real-world deployability, scalability, and clear relevance to insurers navigating fast-moving AI risk. The winner will be announced live on stage on 28th May.
Meet the Finalists
Exona Lab builds an AI Risk Engine that helps insurers, reinsurers, and brokers identify, monitor, and quantify AI-driven liability across their portfolios. The platform detects where AI is used across insured operations, maps it into a consistent risk framework, and links that exposure to liability pathways; giving underwriters, reinsurers, and brokers a clear view of where liability may arise and how it interacts with existing coverage.
Protostars is an AI-native cyber risk intelligence platform that converts fragmented technical, compliance, and product-assurance data into structured, decision-ready risk intelligence for insurers, brokers, MGAs, and enterprises. By combining compliance automation, CE Mark readiness, and an insurability layer, it replaces point-in-time assessments with a live view of control maturity, regulatory readiness, and third-party AI risk.
Jsonify turns the public web into decision-ready intelligence for the AI liability challenge; benchmarking competitor AI exclusion wordings and pricing shifts, monitoring EU AI Act guidance and incident feeds in real time, and mapping AI deployments at corporate insureds from public filings so underwriters have structured
exposure data before binding. Already processing 10M+ rows monthly at 98.7%
accuracy, SOC 2 and GDPR compliant, and in production with multiple large enterprises.
“The calibre of applications this year reflected just how urgently the industry is looking for real answers on AI liability. These three finalists are building the infrastructure to manage this risk right now and we can’t wait to see them on stage in Barcelona.” – Lee Cibis, Head of Content, ITC London & ITC Europe
